The fall semester is officially over, there really are no surprises. Those students who worked, prepared and gave a reasonable effort all did well, those who did not do those things did not do as well as they could have. 80% of my students passed the class and none failed who did what they were supposed to do. The question is, how does a teacher get ALL students to give their best effort?
The first quarter is nearly over and the "honeymoon" may soon be over. I trust that my Junior US students have figured out how to maximize the study guide, that i do not play tricks and that they can indeed master the subject of history IF they do the work necessary and give an honest effort. Would love to know how what they believe on this subject...
It is always interesting to see how the first test turns out. One learns who needs help, who seems to learn easily, who does not know how to study, who does not seem to care, who tries hard and succeeds. The question is how will they react when they see their grade for the first time? Will they try to find out what they did wrong and fix it? Will they say, "oh well it's too hard" and walk away defeated? Will they decide to do battle and conquer the material and earn a better grade next time? Which type of person are you?
I hope you have a great year! Make each day your masterpiece! What are your expectations?
