If you wish to get an overview of the Russian Revolution, including life before 1917 and life during the post-Bolshevik Revolution turmoil, watch Doctor Zhivago (1965 Academy Award winning film). It is long but it touches on a lot of stuff! The book it was based on by Boris Pasternak was banned in the Soviet Union... I wonder why... tell me!
